 The 2011 Thirty Green Energy Savings Makeover is underway! We'll take an "energy hog" home and turn it into one of the most efficient homes in the Houston area. Over 700 applications were received! We reviewed the applications, verified bills, visited homes and narrowed the list to 3 homes. Viewers of KPRC, Channel 2, have voted on the family they would like to receive the Energy Savings Makeover. Congratulations to Tim and Terri Garcia, announced June 10 as the winners.
Now the Thirty Green team goes to work!
We start with a home energy audit from Home Energy Consultants of Houston. That will tell us what improvements will provide the biggest energy savings. Then, we go step by step through the Audit and make the most impactful home improvements.
* We’ll replace the AC system with 2-stage energy efficient system from Carrier installed by Davis Air Conditioning.
* We'll install new energy efficient windows from Home Craftsman installed by Wonderful Windows.
* We'll seal the attic with Energy Complete and add new insulation by Owens Corning installed by Durable Energy Consultants.
* We'll ventilate the attic and add a foil radiant barrier from Heatblockers.
* We'll install a solar powered attic fan from Attic Breeze.
* We'll apply foam wall insulation from Homesulate.
We'll cut the energy costs by thirty percent! at least thirty percent!
